Methodology
How the scores are built.
BearBull Scan turns daily NSE closes into six composite scores per stock and index. No black box — here is exactly what each number means.
Momentum (M)
Momentum measures a stock's or index's own price return over a lookback window. BearBull Scan computes three composite momentum scores — short, medium and long term — each a weighted blend of two lookbacks so a single noisy day doesn't dominate the reading.
Relative strength (RS)
Relative strength measures return versus a benchmark — a stock against its sector, or a sector against Nifty 50. RS is what separates genuine leadership from a market that's simply rising: a stock can be up while still lagging its peers.
Business-day-accurate lookbacks
Every lookback target is anchored on the actual trading date and resolved with business-day (WORKDAY/EDATE) logic, so weekends and holidays never shift a window onto the wrong candle. This is why the medium- and long-term scores stay stable.
Ranking & breadth
Within each context, instruments are ranked per horizon — rank 1 is strongest. Breadth aggregates how many names are positive across 40 sessions, so you can see participation widening or narrowing beneath the headline index.
The six horizons are M-ST / M-MT / M-LT and RS-ST / RS-MT / RS-LT — short, medium and long term for both momentum and relative strength. BearBull Scan is an analysis tool, not investment advice.
